Cryptocurrency is disrupting every aspect of human life – politics, investment, banking, and recreation. Moreso, a larger number of people are receiving more orientation and are now dealing in crypto.
Blick reported that The Chedi, one of the most luxurious Swiss hotels, now accepts payment in crypto. However, the customers cannot pay in any coin other than Bitcoin and Ethereum; at least for now.
In addition, an option to pay in crypto only starts when the customer’s bill is above 200 swiss francs which is around USD $218. Any amount lesser than that will have to be in fiat.
When the customers pay in crypto and the hotel attendants confirm it, it will be converted to Swiss Francs. The essence of this is to hedge against the usual volatility of crypto.
“In the course of the increasing spread and acceptance of cryptocurrency payments, we are proud to be one of the first Swiss luxury hotels to be able to offer our guests cryptocurrencies as a secure means of payment,” the General Manager of The Chadi hotel commented in an interview.
The management of The Chedi hotel didn’t just arrive at this decision overnight. They have been examining the pros and cons of whether they should start accepting crypto for a few years now.
