Elon Musk claimed at a Bitcoin conference that Bitcoin is owned by SpaceX, Tesla, and him. Even though Tesla no longer takes Bitcoin as payment for vehicles, he says that it has not sold its Bitcoin. He also stated that neither he nor any of his holdings are selling Bitcoin.
Tesla began accepting Bitcoin in late March but unexpectedly stopped accepting it 49 days later, in May. Due to concerns about Bitcoin’s energy consumption, the decision was made, and Tesla stated that it would restart accepting Bitcoin if mining became more ecologically friendly.
Musk also asked another event participant and Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey to consider accepting payments in bitcoin from Twitter’s advertisers to increase the cryptocurrency’s value.
Dorsey agreed with the idea, but he was more interested in creating financial advantages within the system than in advertisements.
