The relationship between the crypto industry and the sports industry, especially basketball, has been growing gradually over the last few months. This relationship has been cemented with a lot of partnerships and sponsorships.
The partnerships include the ones between the Lakers & Socios.com, Trail Blazers & StormX, Bucks & Socios.com, and FTX & Curry Stephen to mention a few. On Tuesday, 19th of October, the latest deal was sealed.
The National Basketball Association, popularly shortened as the NBA, announced striking a multi-year partnership with Coinbase. In addition to the NBA, Coinbase also partnered with other top American associations like WNBA, USA Basketball, NBA’s G League and 2K League.
Although both parties didn’t furnish the Press with the details of the partnership, it’s certain that it would be more than 2 years. So far, this is the first crypto partnership accepted by the NBA itself and its iconic.
As a result of this agreement, Coinbase will involve itself in some activities of these American basketball organizations. For instance, it would be the official presenter of the WNBA Cup, and also join the exhibition tour of USA Basketball.
More importantly, the NBA publicized that Coinbase would give a robust crypto education to its fans. In addition, the NBA will show the brand identity of Coinbase in its subsequent activities.
The CMO of Coinbase, Kate Rouch, further explained the exchange’s role thus:
“As part of the partnership, we will create interactive experiences to engage with the NBA and WNBA’s incredible community and athletes around the world.”
