A blockchain for interoperable ledgers
Cosmos is an interoperability ledger developed by Tendermint. It aims to connect many independent distributed ledgers to achieve blockchain interoperability. In short, Cosmos wants to help each blockchain “talk” to each other. The project is built on a set of independent blockchain called zones, powered by Tendermint Core consensus mechanism.
Cosmos has three additional core elements, Cosmos Hub, IBC Protocol, and Cosmos SDK. Cosmos Hub is the first interconnected blockchain that is referred to as the Cosmos Network. IBC Protocol is the standard interoperability protocol to connect the global economy with blockchain technology. Cosmos SDK is the development kit that allows developers to build their custom blockchain and connect it through the ITB protocol.
