Blockchain framework for inter-operable and scalable blockchain network

Tendermint is the core contributor of the Cosmos Network. According to its LinkedIn profile, Tendermint builds the most powerful tools for distributed networks. The company claims that Tendermint empowers people to create a transparent and accountable world through open, distributed, and interoperable networks. Some of their products are Tendermint Core (BFT consensus engine for decentralized network or blockchain ecosystem), Cosmos SDK (a blockchain application framework), IBC Protocol (standard protocol for inter-blockchain communication), and Starport (a platform to launch a new blockchain as easy as possible).

According to Crunchbase, Tendermint has raised a total of $9M in funding over 3 rounds. Their latest funding round was finished on June 1, 2019. In total, there are 5 investors who participate in the funding round. Some of them are HashKey Capital and Bain Capital Ventures. Tendermint has six core team members, including Marko Baricevic (developer relations) and Cheryl Sew Hoy as its advisor.

Tendermint and its products have been used in various projects. Some of them are Binance Dex, Oasis Labs, ShareRing, Terra, IRISnet, and more. Most of them use Cosmos and Tendermint to launch their own blockchain network and integrate with other Cosmos-based blockchains platform. By doing this, projects and businesses can save a considerable amount of money and time since they don’t have to build everything from scratch.

The company itself was launched in 2014 with headquarter located in California, United States. At the time of writing, the Tendermint network is one of the most popular blockchain frameworks with more than $6 billion of assets using its ecosystem.
