The Non-Fungible Tokens industry has been mooning for some couple of years now. In August this year, CNBC reported on a 12-year-old geek who earned $400k from his NFT collectibles. More particularly, the sports industry has been leveraging NFTs to connect better with fans.
On this note, Dapper Labs announced its partnership with The National Football League (NFL) in building a better user experience for football fans through the creation of video non-fungible tokens.
Roham Gharegozlou, the CEO and Co-Founder of Dapper Labs, said this in an interview with Bloomberg:
“We can’t wait to give the more-than-300-million NFL fans the opportunity to own the game that matters to them and engage with the sport in a whole new way.”
According to Dapper Labs, it will create video highlights of memorable moments or snapshots in a matches. Dapper Labs hopes to do this for both subsequent and past matches of the NFL.
Through this NFT collectibles, fans will be able to own digital rights to some aspects of the match that they found thrilling and memorable. Other things being equal, this should commence before the end of this year.
Dapper Labs is a Blockchain infrastructure providing Startup that works with the sports industry. It has worked with clubs like Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. At the moment, the Startup has $7.6 billion valuation.
“We believe blockchain technology has great potential to enhance the NFL fan experience in the future and we are excited to have Dapper Labs as one of our first partners in exploring this emerging space,” Joe Ruggiero, a senior spokesman of Dapper Labs concluded.
