Sorare, a platform to buy, sell and play with official football crypto-goods, has been growing since it was founded in 2018. Starting from January this year, more people appreciated the fantasy NFT model and $50 Million in its Series A funding round.
The Startup has achieved another milestone as Nicolas Julia, one of the Co-founders, said that Sorare has raised $680 Million in its Series B funding round. This breaks the record as the highest Series B that’s ever raised in Europe.
Softbank led other investors in this round, which contained both the old investors, new investors, and some angels. The investors include D1 Capital, Atomico, Eurazeo, Benchmark, IVP and Liontree, Accel, and Partech. While the investors were Alexis Ohanian, César Azpilicueta, Antoine Griezmann, Rio Ferdinand and others.
According to Julia, Sorare will use this fund to achieve four important plans. The first is recruitment of talent. He announced that Sorare is taking in more talents who would contribute their quotas to the growth of the Startup.
Secondly, Sorare wants to make new partnerships. Julia revealed that they hope to “bring top 20 football leagues onboard and the top 50 national teams.” The third plan is to bring more mobile experience to Sorare’s product.
Furthermore, the Startup hopes to expand its wings into new sports and offer its audience fresher taste of games and football entertainment while leveraging NFT.
Julia ended the announcement by sharing what Sorare wants to do in giving back to the society. He said Sorare would support female representation in sport, community-led football programs, and underprivileged entrepreneurs.
